48 Hours In LA

LA

Where, How and Why to spend 48 hours in Los Angeles…

You’ve either just sat on a plane for 14 hours across the pacific, waiting for a connecting flight to shred some pow in Canada or counting down the minutes until your next flight of tequila shots arrive at your table in Mexico. LAX is a huge international hub for connecting flights making it a great place to spend a few days exploring.

Santa Monica Pier. Classic American style really shows off here with a well kept icon in this beachside town. With old school arcade games, candy for the sweet tooth and stunning sandy beaches with rolling waves it’s easy to see why this spot has stayed famous for so long. This pier will take you back to your childhood with fun things to do for the entire family.

Venice Beach. Once you’ve done your morning workout head down and watch how the real men and women do it on Muscle Beach. These guys will basically make you look like an ant and they sure aren’t afraid to show it off! With some really cool unique shops, cafes and restaurants this is a great place to spend some time while the sun is shinning. The beach might be the main drawcard here but by stepping just one block back you will be delighted in some high quality eatery’s true American style, big and delicious.

Hollywood. What’s a trip to Los Angeles without a visit to one of the most famous areas in the movie world? For all those who like to get their sweat on and stay fit while on holidays, make sure to hit the Runyon trail leading up behind the Hollywood sign for one of the best views in California back across the city.

If you’re in town on a weekend there is an awesome farmers market with fresh produce, live entertainment and amazing food trucks just a few blocks from the Walk of fame. Follow your nose and smell down those delicious freshly cooked doughnuts.

Universal Studios. Something that no matter how old you get will still be just as fun as the first time you stepped foot in a carnival. The technology here is out of this world making rides seem like you aren’t just in the movie but now in the world of such scenes as Hogwarts or Avatar. Although you can easily spend two or three days here it sure is a good way to be thrown back to the childhood.

Staples Centre - Lucky enough to land on a game day? Well aren’t you in for an absolute treat. Fast paced, world class basketball being played just meters in front of you, some might say a dream come true for any sports fans out there! I was lucky enough to catch the LA showdown between Clippers and Lakers while here for a few days but make sure to look what’s on once you’ve locked in dates as this is one destination worth squeezing into your schedule.

This city is buzzing with action and super easy to get around using trains or Uber so when you’re wondering what to do while you wait to board that next flight, get out and make use of that forty eight hours. It might just be one of the favourite few days of your trip, who knows.
